IT was nice to see the old picture of the Knap Pool on your front page but the date of late fifties is way out.
It is more like the mid-thirties. The old green huts that ran the whole length of the pool on either side and within about 8 feet of the edge, had been demolished and the gardens which were outside the confines of the original pool site had been included, but the semi circles of chalets and changing accommodation which have just been demolished, had not yet been built. The white structures were the temporary changing huts.
Season Tickets were 7/6 (35p) and we didn't think we had had our money's worth if we did not swim every day until it closed for the winter! Happy days!
